With the development of the modern society, students need to have better English language proficiency. According to English Curriculum Standards, senior high students should take responsibility for finding, using and developing learning resources themselves so as to cultivate their own autonomous learning ability. However, most students are not able to master and use the resource strategy. The paper reports on an action research of resource strategy training in an attempt to investigate whether the teaching actions are effective, and explore how to train students to make a reasonable use of resource strategy. The subjects involved in the study are96Senior One students in2classes who are taught by the author in a senior high school in Tianjin, China.A questionnaire was administrated to find out how the students in senior schools know and use resource strategy. It is found from the collected data that they did not have sufficient resource strategy knowledge, and they did not know when and how to use them. In view of the above facts, the author carried out some teaching actions to train them to use resource strategy from September,2012to June,2013. The students were asked to finish a questionnaire before and after the teaching actions taken by the author. The data-analysis showed that there were significant differences in the use of resource strategy between "before" and "after" training actions. The results showed that students got a better understanding about English learning resources through a series of resource strategy training, and gained the ability in using the available resources as an English learning strategy. It was very helpful for the students to enhance interest in learning, improve learning efficiency, and lay the foundation for lifelong learning in future. Meanwhile, the author illustrated the problems and possible solutions in the process of the action research. The author hopes that this action research can have some implications for English teachers in senior high school, and help them actively cultivate students’ resources strategy. Due to the small sample size, the results yielded from this study will need to be tested in the future. This study demonstrated that, the training of English learning resources strategies is feasible, effective, and have a positive role in promoting the overall development of students.
