Inquiry is the core of science learning. It is not only the content of science education but also the methods of science education. These conceptions have a profound impact on science education around the world. Initiate inquiry learning is the basic concept of the new curriculum. Inquiry is also an effective method for student understanding life in the world and learning biology curriculum. Inquiry activity is the main ways for guiding students learn through inquiry.At present, the degree of attention of biology teachers on inquiry have improved a lot, there are still many problems in the process of science inquiry. Biology textbooks are the main materials for teachers and students carry on inquiry activities, the content and form of inquiries in textbooks have a directly influence on the implement of inquiry. In order to understand our textbooks on preparation of inquiry, the author used the methods of comparative study, preformed a comparison between the latest visions of PEP high school textbooks——the most representative high school textbooks in our country and BSCS which have a great influence on science education all over the world. Through this comparison, we hope to achieve the deserts of understanding inquiries in the textbooks better and give some advises to the editors of these materials.On the basis of comparative study of the types of inquiries, we compare the basic parts of inquiries and some ability that is indispensable in inquiries. In addition, we carried on a study about safety education and exercises systems between different versions of books. In order to show the characteristics of the two different books, our research introduces the inquiry activities in two versions of textbooks combined with two cases. We hope that the conclusion of this research will promote the construction of biology textbooks and the implement of inquiry in our country.Studies have shown that:The program of activities in BSCS is more sophisticated than the program in PEP textbooks. Students are given more autonomy in activities of PEP textbooks. In terms of capacity building, BSCS provide more detailed guidance. The "Analysis" in BSCS has a great role in doing activities.
