With the advancement of society and the development of knowledge economy,the status of science and technology in today's society has become increasingly prominent.It is imperative to build a strong state in science and technology.As a part of basic education,elementary scientific education is the first step for students to form scientific awareness and lay a solid foundation for science.Its importance cannot be underestimated.As a developed country,the United States has always been in a leading position in science and technology,which is directly related to the advanced scientific education in the United States.While China's science and technology are relatively backward,and its primary scientific education is not valued.Therefore,analyzing and comparing the differences of primary scientific education between China and the United States is of great significance for the further reform of science curriculum in China.As the material carrier of teaching,textbooks play an important role in teaching.Therefore,researching and analyzing primary school science textbooks of the United States is one of the most direct and effective ways to understand American science education.Based on the text of Science by Education Science Press and Science by Macmillan Press,this thesis compares the scientific curriculum standards of those two countries,and makes a comparative study on the textbook structure,course content and presentation of scientific textbooks.Besides,this thesis analyzes the reasons that may cause these differences.Through the research,it can be concluded that scientific education in those two countries emphasize scientific inquiry,and they can all highlight the subject status of students.At the same time,the two editions of textbooks are spiraling upwards,which in line with the students' cognitive development rules.However,there are some differences in the content and presentation of the two editions of the textbook.The content of the Science by Macmillan Press with more terminology is more balanced and more scientific.In addition,the types of column design of Science by Macmillan Press are more diverse.It emphasizes the internal connection with other disciplines,which is conducive to the overall development of students.Based on the comparison and analysis of scienceteaching materials of those two countries,we tried to suppose some references and suggestions for complication of science teaching materials of China.
