Fencing lunges of11elite fencers were recorded by3D motion capturesystem when performing forward lunges from different angles of rear foot placementon a force platform, the dynamic and kinematics parameters of knee and ankle joint, and the velocity of the center of gravity, the ground reaction force of rear leg iscalculated by Visual3D analysis software. The aim of the study is to explore whatimpact, if any, the angle of rear foot placement had on the velocity and power of thelunge, and if there is a special angle or range optimal for lunge in fencing guardposition; and the effect of kinematics and dynamics parameters variation due todifferent rear foot placement on velocity of the center of gravity. Result: when therear foot placement is90°, the maximum velocity of center of gravity is significantlybetter than0°,30°and150°, but there is no significant differences between velocity ofthe center of gravity when rear foot placement is60°,90°and120°(P>0.05). Thesimilar ground reaction force caused by combined action of the moment, the velocityand power of knee and ankle of rear leg leads to that. The result of our study isdifferent from traditional preference, though the experiment is not perfect, we foundthat there is a range of rear foot placement angle, which is not significantly affectvelocity of the center of gravity when performing forward lunge. The result should behelpful for fencing coaches and athletes if it could be used in training.
