This thesis takes the influence of rural residents’educational level on social mobility in minority areas as main object of study. It collects relevant information by means of questionnaires, field observations and interviews, draws lessons from the international socio-economic index, and relies on the statistics software to do quantified analysis on the relationship between educational level and social mobility, discussing the influence of rural residents’educational level on social mobility in minority areas. The results show that:(1) At present, the average educational levels of rural residents in minority areas are within the scope of compulsory education;(2) There is a significant positive correlation between the levels of education and acquired class status, the higher educational level, the greater upward possibility of social mobility;(3) In the inter generational relations, it is lack of significant connections between parents’education level and children’s education level; whether parents have non farm work experience has no significant effect on children’s educational level.(4) Limited by the education level, most class status achieved by rural residents in minority areas are in junior positions, and most people’s level of education is not enough to support them to achieve the higher class status and maintain their levels in a long time at the same time.(5) Class differentiation of rural residents in minority areas is increasingly prominent.According to the conclusions, this research believes that the receiving education especially the higher education is not the only factor to decide the rural residents’status flow in minority areas, particularly for the upward flow, but in the backgrounds of widening gap between urban and rural areas, continuously improving requirements of career options in the knowledge and technology, ect, educational development is still the key path to solve the problems such as low income, intergenerational transmission of poverty and low cultural quality for the rural residents in minority areas. Therefore, the issues needed to pay attention in the process of promoting the educational development in ethnic minority areas are as follows:(1) The particularity of minority areas’ education, in order to improve teaching quality, the relationship between ethnic areas daily language and teaching language should be fully took into consideration;(2) In order to provide multi-selections for the rural residents accepting a higher education, the vocational education and the basic education should be linked up associated;(3)Continuing to develop the farmer skill trainings, the technical training and employment demand should be related together organically.
