| The current context for teacher education in England is the result of a radicalreform process, driven by repeated and intensive state intervention. We know thatteacher education is a broad, heterogeneous and differentiated field, within whichindividual teacher educators undertake many different types of work. Consequently,there are on-going debates about who can be defined as a teacher educator and why.Teacher education reflects the characteristics of national education systems. Basedon those studies, my paper concentrates on England mentor, aiming to provide ageneral view of the development of England teacher educators, particularly those whowork at primary and secondary schools. Topics like the workplace of teachereducators, the development of their professional career, the characteristics andproblems involving in their career and etc. are discussed. The outline of thisdissertation is arranged as follows:Chapter one explains the origin and development of England teacher educators,including its history, current situation and the stages of its development, whichprovides a preliminary introduction of this professional group.Chapter two deals with the professional roles of England teacher educators,analyzing the potential conflicts of three different kinds of models and the multipleroles, and will demonstrate the characteristics of England teacher educator and theirprofessional issues.Chapter three studies the professional qualities of England teacher educators andtheir specialized knowledge. By comparing the professional qualities of mentors withthe specific qualities of mentee, this chapter shows the higher standard andrequirement for teacher educators.Chapter four indicates the career path of England teacher educators. It concernsthe primary development path of England teacher educators, the effect on theprofessional development of mentor and how this kind of path prompt its owndevelopment.Chapter five, according to the research of the former chapters, by centering on thepractice of primary and secondary schools teachers teacher educators to professionaldevelopment as the foundation, the British teacher educators, professionaldevelopment analysis of the problems facing the professional development and theenlightenment to our country. |
