The Influence Of The Ideological Trend Of Historical Nihilism On Contemporary University Students And Its Countermeasures

At present, various social ideological trends mutually react in our China. The ideologicaltrend of historical nihilism ideas distorts and denies the history of the development of Chinesenation, especially the history of modern revolution, the history of Chinese communist party,the history of the People’s Republic of China, etc. in terms of “re-evaluating” history. Theuniversity students as a social body group has a higher correlation with historical nihilism.This paper firstly reveals the general rule of the influence of historical nihilism on universitystudents through the observations on the relationship between university students andhistorical nihilism; it then analyzes the internal and external factors that influenced universitystudents; and finally, some countermeasures are put forward.First of all, this paper takes972undergraduate students as the research subjects. Thestudents are from Huaiyin Normal University, Huaiyin Institute of Technology and the otherthree universities in Jiangsu Province. The data shows the current situation of universitystudents influenced by historical nihilism idea. The research suggests that there exists thecertain influence of historical nihilism on university students. It then reveals that a smallnumber of students have already been blurred and they have vague political beliefs, and theirvalue orientation is distorted; also, there is cognitive difference between students’ ideas onhistorical nihilism; finally, there is different levels of relationships between universitystudents’ gender, major, political status, participation motivation and historical nihilism.Secondly, this paper observes the causes of the influence of historical nihilism onuniversity students. The characteristics of the spreading of historical nihilism is the mainfactor of its influence on university students. Mass media, school education andcommunication are the three major channels. Three kinds of reasons attribute to the internalinclinations for university students’ believing in historical nihilism. They are the pressurefrom the majority, the decoys of others’ opinion and the trigger from the inside. Meanwhile,the external inclinations are due to the following three groups of reasons: the arising of socialproblems objectively, the rebelling forces from both home and abroad and the lack ofeducation.Finally, the paper puts forward some countermeasures to resolve historical nihilism. Thepaper points out that the nature of historical nihilism should be identified clearly and weshould apply and transmit the core values of socialism. Besides, the core values of socialismshould be penetrated into the whole process of ideological and political education inuniversities, in this way, the strength is developed, the concept is shared, the foundation of theinfluence of historical nihilism is resolved and its spreading is hindered.
