A Study Of The Value And Its Realization Of Student Associations In The Ideological And Political Education Of Universities And Colleges

With the development and revolution of higher education, and thepopularization of credit system, uniting students in way of classes can no longeradapt to the development of universities and colleges, which has been replaced bynewly student associations. Based on the same interests, student associations aimto improve students’capacities of self-education, self-management and self-service,which also play important roles in promoting all-round development of individualstudents and the development of ideological and politics education. It can be saidthat students associations have important individual and social values nowadays interms of ideological and politics education. Based on previous studies, the thesisanalyzes the individual and social values of student associations in the ideologicaland political education of universities and colleges, examines the factors restrictingstudent associations’value realization in the ideological and political education,and it probes into the ways of realizing the value of student associations in theideological and political education in order to achieve the purpose of effectiveintegration and mutual promotion of student associations and ideological andpolitical education.The thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter One summarizes the basic situation of student associations and a linkbetween student associations and ideological and political education in universitiesand colleges. This chapter clearly defines student associations and analyzes theircharacteristics, types, subjects, targets and tasks and their links with the ideologicaland political education.The second chapter analyzes the value of student associations in theideological and political education of universities and colleges. The thesis pointsout the value of the individual value of student associations in ideological andpolitical education of universities and colleges. It is to enhance the students ideological and political qualities, mental qualities, as well as cultivate students’spirit of unity and cooperation; it also points out its social value: enhancingeducational results, optimizing the educational environment.The third chapter examines the factors restricting student associations’ valuerealization in the ideological and political education of universities and colleges. Itpoints out some subjective factors including lacking of educational valuerecognition of student associations, dated management philosophy etc. and someobjective factors including the lack of certain material conditions and innovation inactivities and so forth.Chapter Four explores the ways of realizing the value of student associationsin the ideological and political education of universities and colleges. This sectionidentifies three major ways of value realization in ideological and politicaleducation, namely, to strengthen the management and construction of studentassociations.
