Teachers’ behavior is an outward manifestation of teacher quality.Comparative study of novice and expert geography teacher classroom behavior canreveal features of expert geography teachers and provide a clear direction for novicegeography teachers to improve classroom behavior and contribute to the novicegeography teachers’ professional growth. Based on that, this study uses the methods ofliterature research, education observation and case study to analyze a novice and anexpert geography teachers′classroom record in the same senior middle school. Thispaper focuses on the two teachers′behavior of classroom lecture behavior, classroomquestioning behavior and classroom presented behavior.The study found that for the lecture behavior, the expert geography teacher lectureis language specification, content integrity, strong structural logic, and can contact lifepractice. Novice teacher’s classroom is non-standardized, mechanical and error-prone.For the questioning behavior, the expert′s questions are more effective, generative, andmore pay attention to the behavior of students. The novice’s questions are preset beforethe class, focus on the implementation of teaching programs and inefficient. For thepresented behavior, the expert can choose appropriate manner according to teachingcontent and specific goals, and focus on the logical relationship between knowledge tohelp students construct knowledge. The novice’s presented methods varied and strongattempted, emphasize on presentation of a single knowledge.The basic framework of this study is mainly composed of four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction of background, significance and methods of thestudy.The second chapter is a synthesis of research, mainly divided into two parts, thefirst part is the status of domestic and foreign research results about novice and expertson teaching behavior, and the second part is define novice teacher and expert teacherand to divide the concept of classroom behavior based on the first part of the research literature.The third chapter is analyze the two geography teachers′lecture behavior,questioning behavior and presented behavior.The fourth chapter describes research findings and inspiration.
