The Teaching Method Of High School Original Concepts And Important Key Concepts Of Mathematics

The original concepts and important key concepts are not only the logical startingpoints of mathematics, but also the starting points of mathematical thinking and methods.As the original concepts and important key concepts are created to solve all themathematical problems, understanding and mastering the original concepts and importantkey concepts is the foundation to learn math well. However, there are few researches aboutthe original concepts and important key concepts nowadays. This paper, based ontheoretical literature and an investigation of the seniors’ understanding of the functionconcept, gives us a five-step teaching method of high school original concepts and keyconcepts of mathematics. After recommending by two experienced teachers, the teachingmethod is modified and improved as follows:Step1Give students the formal definition of the original concepts and importantkey concepts based on the descriptive definition;Step2Find out the connections between the new definition about the concept andthe one which was learned earlier in order to clarify the source of concepts;Step3Typical examples are given to help students have a more in-depthunderstanding of the essential property of the original concepts and important keyconcepts;Step4Link the original concepts and important key concepts with the real life anduse it to improve students’ awareness of application and the further understanding of theconcepts’ nature;Step5Deepen and expand the original concepts and important key conceptsaccording to the connections between the subject content;Step6Summary immediately in class and guide students to reflect when they solvethe math problems.
