The 5E Instructional Model is a teaching method that actively constructs concepts in the process of inquiry.The 5E Instructional Model often attracts students' interest in learning by creating situations,using questions to guide the progress of inquiry activities,cultivating students' inquiry ability and problem-solving ability,and helping students construct concepts.The basic concept of the new standard curriculum requires that "content focus on big concepts" in the teaching process.Important concepts are the superior concepts of secondary concepts,and are also the basis for forming big concepts,and are an important part of students' concept learning.Therefore,the teaching of important concepts based on the 5E Instructional Model meets the requirements of inquiry-based teaching and learning of important concepts required by the new curriculum standards.This research is mainly divided into the following three parts:In the first part,through the literature research on the 5E Instructional Model and the teaching of important concepts in biology,combined with the results of the questionnaire survey on the current situation of important concept teaching based on the 5E Instructional Model,the concept categories suitable for the 5E Instructional Model are proposed,taking"Molecules and Cells" as an example,screened the concept chapters suitable for the 5E Instructional Model and designed the 5E Instructional activities of each section,and summarized the important concept construction order of "factual knowledge-secondary concept-important concept".This study summarizes the teaching strategies based on the important concepts of the 5E Instructional Model,and puts forward five principles that should be followed in the teaching process according to the implementation suggestions given by the front-line teachers.According to the teaching strategies,principles and the construction sequence of important concepts,the teaching case design ideas of important concepts based on the 5E Instructional Model are designed,and the fifth chapter of "Molecules and Cells"and the important concept "the functions of cells are mostly based on chemical reactions,these chemical The reaction takes place in a specific area of the cell” as an example for the case design.In the second part,two classes in a high school in Jiangxi Province with no significant difference in biology learning level and biological achievement were selected for nearly a month of teaching practice.The experimental class conducts important concept teaching based on the 5E Instructional Model according to the designed teaching case,and the control class conducts conventional teaching focusing on simple and repeated knowledge,and evaluates the teaching effect as follows: 1.A small test for important concepts in Chapter 5,the questions In order to "talk about your knowledge of chemical reactions in cells based on what you have learned in this chapter",evaluate the students' understanding and mastery of chemical reactions in cells in the experimental and control classes.2.Use the adapted "Biology Learning Level Evaluation Scale for Senior High School Students" to evaluate the changes of students' biological learning interest,learning methods,inquiry ability and problem-solving ability before and after teaching practice.3.Use the test paper at the end of Chapter 5 to evaluate the biological learning performance of the experimental class and the control class.4.Each class of the experimental class also uses the self-edited "5E Classroom Evaluation Record Form" to evaluate students' classroom performance and the learning of concepts in each class,assisting teaching reflection,and thus improving teaching practice.The third part analyzes the evaluation results of the experimental class and the control class and draws conclusions.Using SPSS 23.0 to analyze the learning performance,biology learning level and important concept quiz results of the experimental class and the control class after the teaching practice,it is concluded: 1.The important concept teaching based on the 5E Instructional Model can deepen the students' understanding of the important concepts,which is more conducive to establishing the connection between concepts than conventional teaching.2.The teaching of important concepts based on the 5E Instructional Model can significantly improve students' biology learning level,which is mainly reflected in that it can significantly improve students' biology learning methods,and significantly improve students' biological learning interest,inquiry ability and problem-solving ability.3.The teaching of important concepts based on the 5E Instructional Model can significantly improve biology performance.The 5E classroom evaluation record form of the experimental class was analyzed,and the conclusion was drawn that the teaching of important biological concepts based on the 5E Instructional Model is conducive to students' grasp of concepts,helps students to expand concepts,and improves students' classroom participation and learning enthusiasm.
