Writing is the most important skill of four comprehensive skills which can reflectstudents’ level of using English most, and it is also a skill of four comprehensive skills,whose difficulty of training is the most, Practicability is the strongest andcomprehensive knowledge is the widest. Writing can promote internalization ofstudents’ English knowledge and help to check the degree of mastering and practicalapplication ability of learners’ English basic knowledge. Therefore, the teaching aboutwriting has an important position which cannot be ignored in junior middle school. Inthis study, the teaching mode related to English writing is the cooperative learning.What’s more, with the help of “the cooperative learning” teaching mode, it is theEnglish writing that will cultivate students’ communicative competence and ability tocooperate with other persons better. Therefore, the teacher should attempt to usecooperative learning mode more for providing students with more chance to improvethe level of English communication and English learning.On the basis of the cooperative learning theory, the characteristics of cooperativelearning, the principle of cooperative learning and The Ordinary Senior Middle SchoolEnglish Course Standard Below the Full-time Compulsory Education, the authorproposed how to apply cooperative learning to teaching English writing effectively inthe junior middle school, put the questionnaire survey and experimental analysis intopractice and explore the accelerating impact which the cooperative learning have in theteaching of English writing. Finally, the author hopes this research will help inimproving students’ English writing ability in the junior middle school.For the sake of improving the students’ English writing, the author teaches Englishwriting for Junior Three students applying the method of cooperative learning and hasan empirical study as to solve the following two problems: Is cooperative learningbeneficial to change students’ attitude towards English writing? Does cooperativelearning promote the students’ writing ability really?Facing the present situation of teaching English in junior middle school, under theguidance of the theory of cooperative learning, the author did an experiment between two Junior Three classes. Class Two was the experimental class using cooperativelearning in English teaching writing while Class Six was the control class in atraditional way. The experiment went on a semester. During the process of theexperiment, the author carried out questionnaires, pre-test, mid-test, and post-test, thencompared with the grades of two classes. At last, the author got some valuable data.After the experiment, the students’ attitude in the experimental class changes greatlytowards English writing, and they are more interested in English writing. Meanwhile,their English writing ability has been improved generally. The study indicates thatcooperative learning not only cultivates the students’ consciousness of cooperation andimproves the students’ English writing level and communicative ability, but alsopromotes students to supervise each other, share resources and improve mutually.Meanwhile, it is one of the effective ways to improve teaching of the English writing inthe junior middle school and a kind of good method which is worthy of being learningby foreign language teachers.
