The Consistency Analysis Of Textbook And Curriculum Standard

Because of curriculum reform and advancing of the English curriculum standards,elementary English education in our nation has a big change: the transform fromemphasizing reading and teaching mode to developing students’ comprehensivelanguage using ability. Listening ability is one of language skills which is usually usedin daily communication and used to be ignored in previous English teaching, but itbecomes the key and difficult points of English teaching now. This paper aims toanalyze listening skill of each listening exercise in Ordinary High school EnglishCurriculum Standard Experiment Textbook (Module One)(referred to Module One). Inthis way it can evaluate the consistency between listening skills in exercises andlistening standards of level six.This paper takes Module One as the research object, based on the specific listeningskills which invovled in Module One and the relative requirements of new curriculumstandard, using literature study and theory analysis, to define listening skills of therelative listening standards by taking examples. Then to analyze listening skills whichinvolved in each listening exercises, getting the results of analyzing listening exercises.The way of results presented is appearance frequence of specific listening skills andhierarchical listening standards, to analyze the consistency between listening standardsof level six and listening skills involved in listening exercises in Module One.Through the research, it can be found the general consistency of textbook andcurriculum standards, but not perfect conforming. Because of some inevitable factors intextbook design, textbook can’t conform to curriculum standards perfectly. Except forthis reason, there are some problems in our curriculum standards, such as the obscuredescription of listening skill, making the textbook and curriculum standards conformednot perfectly.
