A new round of curriculum reform has been carried out all over China. One of thekeys to the new curriculum reform is the teaching reform. Therefore, guided by thetheory of the new curriculum, the research into the curriculum reform of the junior highschool biology is quite necessary in the new curriculum reform of the elementaryeducation, in carrying out the education for all-round development, and in enhancingthoroughly the efficiency of the classroom teaching, cultivating the high-qualifiedpersons who can adopt themselves to and promote the social development.The paper is intended to study the application of the scaffolding teaching in thejunior high school biology teaching, which is expected to promote the students’ learningcapacities and levels in learning the biology, provide a certain theoretical support for theclassroom teaching design in the junior high school biology by the ideas of the newcurriculum, and offer experience for advancing the new curriculum biology teachingreform in the junior high school.The paper, employing the methods as follows, literature method, questionnairesurvey, experiments and educational statistics, has studied the theory and application ofthe scaffolding instruction. The paper theoretically investigates the processes of thescaffolding instruction design. Meanwhile, it investigates the practice of applying thescaffolding instruction theory, analyzes statistically the examination performances of thestudents in the experimented class and the common class in the three stages, andanalyzes comprehensively the effects of the effects of the classroom teaching.The application of the scaffolding instruction in nearly four months illustrates thefollowing outcomes: the scaffolding instruction is quite significant in promoting theteaching effects of the junior high school biology and the students’ performances; it isalso rather effective in enhancing the students’ autonomic learning capacity,collaborative learning capacity, the ability of raising questions and thinking; it iseffective in stimulating the students’ learning interests, transforming the students’learning methods and fostering the students’ creativity and practice etc. The basic advantages of scaffolding teaching are: realization of "teacher-led andstudents ’ participating role" of modern education, full implementation of the guidingrole of teachers and cultivation of students ’ learning potential and effectively improvingstudents ’ ability to learn.
