The Plight Of Families Of Disabled Children And Family Policy

The disabled children is a special group, which need more help than general people.From the current development situation of China, the disabled children still live in their ownhomes, families bear the child’s care and a series of rehabilitations. Helping repaired family’sdamage function is also helping the disabled children. The perfect family policy for familiesof disabled children is better able to support the family and helping the family out of trouble.This paper studies the information obtained through interviews and literature, qualitativeanalysis of the data processing and analysis methods. The main reasons for the plight offamilies of disabled children is the family policy not perfect in our country. Lack of familyallowances for the disabled children can not alleviate the economic pressure on families,community care and family services may not be implemented not relieve physical and mentalstress of family members, rehabilitation and education policies may not be implemented toincrease the difficulty of rehabilitation, education for the disabled children.Results from the study found that families of disabled children faced difficulties in theeconomic, energy and psychological, as well as rehabilitation. First of all, the families facehuge economic pressure. High recovery expense for most families can not afford, a lot offamilies had to borrow from relatives and friends, some of the families choose to quit her jobto care of the children, make household income declined. Secondly, the family caregiversexhaustion of body and mind to children with any disability. Disabled children caregivers feltvery upset and pain, their social circle gradually atrophic, confine themselves around thechildren. Finally, the family caregivers felt confused of rehabilitation and education. Some offamily caregivers do not understand the content and arrangement. Disabled children can notadapt the ordinary school and they also hard to go to the special education school.Finally, based on the foreign and domestic policy in child welfare and family policy,parents’ work benefits, community care and family services review, put forward perfect ourcountry disabled children family policy recommendations.
