Academy is an important form of educational organization after the late TangDynasty. But at present, it is divergent that the academy is what a nature kind ofeducational organization. The coincident view of the academia is that the academy ismainly founded by private and organization. The academy made the collection andcollation of books and teaching and research as a whole. It is a kind of folk academicresearch and educational institution independent from the official school. Theessences of the academy are the private library and give lectures to students. Academysprouted in the late Tang Dynasty, formed in the Five Dynasties, flourished in theSong Dynasty. Because of Shandong’s special historical reasons, their evolution is notsynchronized with the nation.Specific to the Jiaodong areas’ academies in the Qing Dynasty, according tostatistics of Shandong Tongzhi’s records, Tengchow City, Laizhou City and JiaozhouCounty totally have17academies. Tengchow Fu had339Jinshi, it is second inShandong. Laizhou Fu had334Jinshi, it is third in Shandong. In view of this situation,the education achievement of Jiaodong area in Qing Dynasty was very good, whichhad a large number of scholars from these academies. Therefore, the research onacademies in Qing Dynasty of Jiaodong area is necessary.This article is from the academies of Jiaodong Region’s historical evolution andgeographical distribution, specific educational activities and social relations in theQing Dynasty. It is a comprehensive study about Jiaodong Region’s academies’history development and development situation in Qing Dynasty. And it also analysesthe interaction between academies and local society in the performance and influence.Finally, it in-depth analyses the Jiaodong Region’s academies’ causes of decline andperformance in the late Qing Dynasty.
