In the era of the knowledge economy, lifelong-learning has become a key resource for both enterprises and individuals. Online-education is a practical tool to build good atmosphere for lifelong-learning. So, how to improve the efficiency of online-education to promote independent learning is the focus in many academic researches. The practice of tertiary education is a process of knowledge management, and knowledge sharing is the core of knowledge management. Knowledge sharing makes students studying delightfully, which in turn spurs the motivation of self-study. Therefore, establishing an effective knowledge-sharing platform is critical for the development of online-education.SNS (social networking sites) refers to the websites which can help people to build social networking service. It implements a network of social relations, emphasizing interpersonal. With the perspective of knowledge sharing, it emphasizes communication and exchange between users, providing the factors of knowledge sharing, such as subject, object and the external environment. The SNS also provides a platform for the realization of high-quality resource sharing. Taking XNCJ University’s online-education as an example, in the context of the development of online-education and SNS, the author is proposed to build a knowledge-sharing platform of XNCJ University’s online-education based on SNS, then combined with the actual situation of XNCJ University to analyze its strengths. At the theoretical level, by analyzing the features, factors, building elements and processes of knowledge-sharing based on SNS is a basis for designing the construction of the elements and mechanisms of XNCJ University’s knowledge-sharing platform. The final goal is to build XNCJ University’s knowledge-sharing model based on SNS.This thesis has six parts. The first part is the introduction which describes its research background, purposes, ideology, methodology and main points; the second part refers to the theoretical basis and relevant literatures, including group dynamics, social constructivism, social interaction, knowledge management, and knowledge sharing and transferring; the third part shows the status of online-education in XNCJ University’s and the benchmark case of SNS, and also analyses the advantages of knowledge sharing in SNS virtual communities; the fourth part gives the analysis related to the characters and influences of knowledge-sharing based on the system in XNCJ University. This part will also demonstrate the procedures of sharing knowledge in operation to provide a theoretical basis for the construction of knowledge-sharing model;, the fifth part will propose the knowledge-sharing model of XNCJ University’s online-education, designing the frame of this model, and establishing the knowledge-sharing operating mechanism from the cultural, technical, motivate aspects. Finally, the sixth Part is a summary of this essay, and it will also discuss some potential possibilities in the future.With the implementation of SNS virtual communities in various fields, research of knowledge-sharing platform based on SNS is much more important than what used to be. SNS can improve students’ self-learning ability. It also can promote the development of online-education, further more creating a flexible system for lifelong-education. This essay designs a frame of SNS knowledge-sharing model based on a case study of XNCJ University’s online-education system from the perspective of an educational administrator. However, from the technical level, developing knowledge-sharing platform based on SNS should consider more factors. Therefore, further empirical research for optimization should be proposed.
