Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, there are three trends oflong-distance marriage. The third was since2000, against the background of tide of ruralworkers, great amount of rural youth walked away from countries, then be in love whenworked in city, so large quantity of inter-provincial marriages were produced. Sincelong-distance marriage has become an important marriage pattern, it’s necessary toresearch on how the long-distance marriage happens, how it influences individuals,families involved, and how it influences the rural society. Only to figure out thesequestions can we build a harmonious society.This paper adopts qualitative research methods, through investigating and studyinglong-distance marriages in South Jiangxi Province E three areas, then analysis greatamount of cases, intend to display the young migrant workers long-distance marriagesstatus quo, marriage process, main parties’ attitude and role, women’s choice aftermarriage and applicability and so on. On this basis, this paper analyses female’s role andbehavior in the process of long-distance marriages under the perspective of SocialExchange Theory, analyses how the two families relevant in long-distance marriage madetheir strategy choice under the perspective of the Theory of Marriage Strategy. As one ofthe important marriage patterns, long-distance marriage influence individual’s life,families relevant and the whole society in both positive and negative sides. As theimportant parties of long-distance marriage,female migrant workers involved inlong-distance marriage,their roles and behaviors in long-distance marriage proves theirhigh level status in autonomous rights, decision-making rights, and self-control rights.
