The fundamental objective of integrating virtual environment and foreign languagecurriculum is to integrate the information technology effectively in the process of foreignlanguage teaching, implement the requirements of new curriculum standard for developmentof the students’ integrated language capability, and achieve the development of the students’foreign language practice capability. At present, the research related to integration ofinformation technology and foreign language curriculum is developing to the deep and microdirection, including the research on integration of information technology and various foreignlanguage curriculums in the university, high school and junior middle school, and thetechnical level includes PPT, theme website, QQ, blog, and mobile technology. With thepurpose of integrating a new information technology-the virtual environment technology andforeign language curriculum, this study analyzes the presentation mode of the foreignlanguage teaching in the content in virtual environment, positive changes in ways of teachingand learning, and interaction mode of teachers and students, and summarizes the mode ofintegrating the virtual environment and foreign language curriculum.This study uses the convenience sample. With40students in a class of certain middleschool in Handan where the author teaches as the research object, the network virtual worldSecond Life as the experimental platform, and one unit of English curriculum in Grade Eightof2013Hebei Textbook Edition as the basic teaching content, it designs6teaching tasksaccording to the content of curriculum, organizes the students to carry out4activities in thecorresponding virtual situations, with each activity lasting for about an hour. With the datafrom the author’s observation of the students’ activities, and the questionnaire survey andinterviews before and after the experiment, this study uses the descriptive analysis methodand content analysis method for data coding and analysis.The results of this study mainly include two parts: one is the integration effect of virtualenvironment and foreign language curriculum; the other is the integration mode based on theexperiment. The data analysis shows that the integration of virtual environment and foreign language curriculum can provide the students with the new foreign language educationenvironment, to present the content of foreign language teaching in the approximately realway, thus to improve the way of foreign language teaching and learning, and interaction modeof teachers and students, provide self-learning, research and cooperative learning environmentfor foreign language learning, and enable the foreign language learning to be done with thetask-driven method in the relaxed and pleasant environment. The integration of virtualenvironment and foreign language curriculum can better solve the students’ insufficiency inthe practice, which can be organically integrated with the classroom teaching, to complete theteaching task of curriculum together. Through the teaching experiment and data analysis, thisstudy summarizes the integration model of virtual environment and foreign languagecurriculum, briefly summarized as follows: With “experience, participation, cooperation andexchange, positive thinking and bold practice” of the Curriculum Standard as the guidingideology, and approximately real virtual environment as the practice platform, it makes theintegration focus on outside class, and designs the teaching content to the task activitiessimilar to the real situation; the teachers guide and encourage the students to participate in theactivities, to take the formative situation assessment of the activities, and explain the typicalproblems during the practice in the classroom.
