Virtual Experiment Environment(VEE)is a combination of virtual reality technology and traditional experimental teaching,which involves in virtual reality,human-computer interaction,artificial intelligence,computer graphics,education and other multi-disciplinary comprehensive knowledge and aims to generate a more realistic 3D virtual learning environment through the computer.Students can completely "immerse" into VEE to operate various experimental equipments and verify various experimental schemes,which can greatly improve their understanding and practical ability.Moreover,in VEE,students can break the time and space constraints of the traditional experimental environment to avoid all kinds of insecurities;they also can conceive various experimental programs to carry out autonomous learning and exploratory learning,which can fully stimulate student's creativity.Combined Virtual Reality(VR)technology and Human-Computer Interaction(HCI),this thesis designs a virtual laboratory interaction system oriented to automatic control virtual experiment.On the one hand,it can support the informatization of higher education.On the other hand,it is an excellent platform for evaluating VR and HCI technology.The main contents are as follows.1.A layer framework of VEE for automatic control is presented.The propsed framework consists of simulation module,application module,and interaction module,which both reflects the characteristics of virtual environment and considers the characteristics of the traditional experimental teaching and the teaching strategy,and highlight the interaction,imagination,immersiion,and openness of virtual experiment environment.2.The key modeling technology of virtual experiment environment is studied.Based on proposed framework,the methods of geometrical modeling,physical modeling,and behavior modeling in virtual environment are studied.Mathmatical model,stability,and behavior modeling method of inverted pendulum system are analyzed.In addition,the geometric modeling and behavior control method for virtual characters,the rendering technology of virtual experiment environment are discussed.3.Human-Computer Interaction(HCI)technology and its design methods in Virtual experiment environment are studied.According to collision detection,semantic information interaction mechanism in VEE is designed.And then,an interactive method of walkthrough is designed using graphical user interface design mode for guiding users to operation independently the virtual experiment environment.Finally,somatosensory interaction technology is studied.Somatosensory interaction model based on kinect in virtual environment is implemented.4.Oriented to inverted pendulum experiment in automatic control,a virtual experiment environment is designed and developed.Current founctions of VEE system include user management module,virtual environment navigation module,inverted pendulum model PPT module,inverted pendulum experiment demonstration module,somatosensory interaction control module,and system performance test module.Through the typical interaction scenarios,the accuracy and effectiveness of system functions are tested and verified.
