An Investigation On The Administration Of The Overseas Chinese Education Scholarships At Jinan University

Administration of the Overseas Chinese Education scholarship is an important part of theprofessional development of Overseas Chinese Education. Therefore, there is an urgent need tounderstand how to improve incentives for the Overseas Chinese Education scholarship.In this paper, we conduct an investigation on the Overseas Chinese Education scholarshipbased at Jinan University. By collecting information through questionnaires, interviews,literature, and other first-hand information from teachers, students, and the school, the resultsshow that the selection process of Overseas Chinese Education students is not standard enough.Issues discovered through this study include the following: unreasonable scholarshipdisbursement, lack of standardization in the scholarship selection process, lack of understandingof the scholarship regulations by students, weak attendance record keeping of students at JinanUniversity, insufficient cost of living subsidies for Oversea Chinese Education students, a lackof financial aid programs for the Oversea Chinese Education students, surveys conducted ofscholarship applicants are not comprehensive, and the type of scholarships awarded lackdiversity.To this, we put forward the following suggestions: First, to consolidate and optimize thescholarship types awarded; Second, adjusting the scholarship amounts; Third, standardize thescholarship selection process; Fourth, improve the review system of scholarship applicants;Fifth, implement diversified scholarship incentives; Sixth, strengthen the supervision ofscholarships; Seventh, perfecting the scholarship incentive mechanism. On the basis of theabove suggestions, we put forward a specific administrative project for the Overseas ChineseEducation scholarship，and designed a program called the "One Yuan Charity Foundation".
