Online games provides online game users a "world" of interaction and communication, forming a virtual community, in this "community", game users undergo social behaviors, such as pro-social behaviors. This research carries out a questionnaire survey.In massively multiplayer online game such an "interactive" environment, there are two types of "in-game prosocial behaviors":"interactive in-game prosocial behaviors" and "public-service in-game prosocial behaviors". Game content and in-game environment both have effects on in-game prosocial behaviors. Prosocial game content and prosocial in-game environment have positive impact on interactive in-game prosocial behaviors, where in-game environment has a stronger impact. Prosocial in-game environment, prosocial game content, violent game content and violent in-game environment have significant positive impact on public-service in-game prosocial behaviors from high to low. Whether in-game prosocial behaviors have effect on offline prosocial behaviors and how strong the effects are depend on various types of prosocial behaviors. |
