Graduate student group is the main source of research and innovative talents of our country, and also the main potential of innovation-oriented national construction. Promoting creativity is not only the high sense of graduate students development, but also the mission of our age. Under the background of expansion of recruiting graduate students, the quality of graduate student training of our country began to decline, the development of graduate students’ creativity is worrying. A large number of research indicates that the overall level of graduate students’creativity in our country is not high, the voice of criticizing this phenomenon are getting more and more. This study focus on the student involvement, the learning Master of grade two and three in Nanjing University are sampled for the research, the study has made an investigation of the overall situation of their creativity, and a probing analysis of how does student involvement influence their creativity is completed. Combined with the interview in the end, some countermeasures and advices on the improvement of students’ creativity are put forward.In this study, the questionnaire used is compiled by ourselves, it’s reliability and validity has been reached the standard, so the questionnaire would be manageable. The software SPSS 16.0 is used at the stage of data processing. There are two components of students’ creativity, the internal characteristics and the innovative academic achievements. After the factor analysis of students’ creativity and student involvement, their dimensions are identified. There are four components of students’ creativity, including knowledge, thinking, personality and behavior characters. Student involvement have three dimensions, there are the learning engagement in classes and courses, extracurricular reading and research, and the engagement in academic activities. On the basis of the dimensions of variables are identified, the following three questions are studied:1. According to the results of descriptive statistics, to analysis the current situation of graduate students’ creativity in Nanjing University;2. Used the regression analysis, regarded student involvement as the independent variable, regarded students’ creativity as the dependent variable, to analysis the student involvement’s effect on their creativity;3. Used logistic regression analysis, regarded student background variables as control variable, regarded student involvement as the independent variable, regarded student creativity as the dependent variable, to analysis student involvement’s effect on innovative academic achievements.Through the analysis of data, the following characteristics are found:1.The empirical results from the survey show that the overall average of graduate students’ creativity in Nanjing University is generally; the score of every dimension is from 3.11-3.43, and the number of students who has published academic achievements was less, only 43.2% of the graduate students have published academic articles;2. Through regression analysis, it found that students involvement has a significant impact on their creativity; In particular, students’ learning engagement in classes and courses & engagement in academic activities have a marked impact on knowledge characters of their creativity; Extracurricular reading and research & the engagement in academic activities are the major factors influence on thinking characters of students’ creativity; Extracurricular reading and research has a significant impact on personality characters of students’ creativity; Students’ learning engagement in classes and courses& extracurricular reading and research have significant impact on their creativity;3. Through logistic regression analysis, it found that students’ learning engagement in classes and courses & extracurricular reading and research have a significant impact on their published articles.According to the research findings, some countermeasures and advices can be made for the improvement of students’ creativity, respectively from three aspects: graduate students, the university and the tutors. First, graduate students have to set up the correct study values and strengthen the input in study and scientific research; Second, the university must pay attention to the cultivating of students’ innovative awareness, and set up a favorable environment for them; At last, tutors should strengthen the academic guidance for graduate students, and improve the quality of interaction between teachers and students.
