With the development of society and economy, the role of English in international communication becomes very important. So it is the common wish of many parents and students to learn English well. Because vocabulary is the foundation of language learning, vocabulary learning has been regarded as the focus of English teaching. And it is also premise to improve the ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. For Chinese students, English is a foreign language which they only learn in class but seldom use outside it. So they are not motivated to learn English, let alone remember new words. To make things worse, they don’t have effective ways to remember English words. Most of the students memorize words are in a single way, so it is easy to forget. They try to learn every word by heart at one sitting, but never review them. Then after a few days, they can’t remember anything.. In the process of memorizing words, the teacher let the traditional "cramming" teaching students in a passive position, students will not take the initiative to memorize words, so much less interested in remembering words.In recent years, many educators are studying the effective method of memorizing vocabulary. With the science and technology of computer assisted language learning developing, the author thinks that high school students can use vocabulary software to learn vocabulary. For this research, the author put forward problems: it is effective to learning English vocabulary by using vocabulary software for senior high school students. To answer this question, firstly, this paper is to take the questionnaire survey method to understand the high school students’ perception of vocabulary and using vocabulary propensity of software. Secondly, the author use natural experimental method to empirical research on vocabulary remembering valid that high school students use vocabulary learning software is valid.Through the analysis and discussion of the data at first, the research shows that the software is helpful for students to learn vocabulary. Secondly, comparing the vocabulary items before and after the experiment, we draw the following conclusion: Although on the complete sentences project, the experimental group of student achievement is no more than the control group, but in the other three projects are far more than the students in control group. Therefore, the author thinks that high school students using vocabulary software to learn English vocabulary is effective.
