| This study aims to explore the effects of multimedia English vocabulary teaching on vocabulary learning of art students in a rural senior high school in order to help these students overcome difficulties in vocabulary learning,change their attitudes towards vocabulary learning and,more importantly,to improve their English test scores,especially their reading comprehension scores.The experimental research was conducted in Jianping Senior High Art School in Chaoyang City,Liaoning Province,China.The project lasted for 16 weeks from August15 th,2018 to December12 th,2018.The research participants were 66 students from two parallel classes in the second year of senior high school of the rural art school.One is the experimental class and the other is the control class.The research methods included questionnaire,pre-test and post-test,and interview.All collected data were analyzed qualitatively by interpretation analysis and quantitatively by SPSS software.The following three research questions are to be addressed in this study:1.To what extent multimedia-assisted English vocabulary teaching and learning method can help to solve the problems in art students’ vocabulary learning process?2.To what extent multimedia-assisted English vocabulary teaching and learning method can help the students change their attitude of learning English from being passive to being active?3.To what extent can multimedia-assisted English vocabulary teaching and learning method improve the students’ learning proficiency in English?The research findings demonstrate that students’ vocabulary and reading comprehension scores have been improved significantly after 16 weeks of the teaching experiment.In addition,the study found that this kind of multimedia English vocabulary teaching can help students overcome difficulties in vocabulary learning and change their vocabulary learning attitudes to a large extent.On the whole,from quantitative and qualitative data analysis,multimedia English vocabulary teaching is of great help to students.Finally,pedagogical implications and suggestions for further research are discussed,which are anticipated to be advantageous for English vocabulary teaching in the Chinese context. |
