With the rapid development of computer, network and multimedia information technique and with the continuous advance of modern education and teaching model reform, the traditional teaching model with thousands of years can’t adapt the need of modern teaching development. Especially in the rural primary school, the traditional teaching model only depending on teachers has showed its many faults little by little. The modern teaching model based on multimedia information has gradually turned into the tendency of the education development in the future. Multimedia teaching promotes the modern education towards the direction of intelligence, individuation, integration and network, which causes the reform of teaching model and learning ways. In 2005, the modern long-distance education project in rural middle and primary schools in our country has entirely begun, which is planned to provide some equipment, such as TVs, satellite receiving system, computer classrooms and teaching optical disks. They can meet the need of high quality education and teaching resources for the rural students.But in recent years, in some rural areas, multimedia coursewares having gone deep into teaching practice are only the supporters in classes. There are many problems in the designs of multimedia coursewares in primary school teaching, which cause the lack of scientific and effective application. Due to this situation, the thesis was selected some rural primary schools as the base of doing research and was planned to promote multimedial technique in rural education and teaching effectively. The research has the aid of some methods, such as literature research method, investigation and analytical method, naturalistic observation method, case research method etc. The research explored how to strengthen the designs and making of multimedia course- wares and effective uses.This thesis is divided into six parts and in the first part, it mainly introduces the research background of the application of multimedia CAI in rural primary schools, research purpose, significance and research methods, especially pointing out the application situation and guiding significance of multimedia CAI in the education of present rural primary schools. In the second part, it mainly shows the related concepts in rural basic education and education technology and capacity. The thesis enhances the main problems on rural basic education from several ways of teachers, teaching levels and capital investment and so on. In the third part, it discusses the present situation of multimedia application in rural primary schools. In the fourth part, on the base of the second and the third part, in order to improve the effective use of multimedia coursewares, it shows many training plans and the designs of teaching plan in classes about how to make multimedia coursewares. In the fifth part, it describes that in the environment of multimedia teaching, teachers should change their roles and they should change themselves from traditional teachers, educators and explaining persons of problems into directors, developers, communicators and researchers in student learning. In the sixth part, it gives the summary of the whole thesis. It shows the result of the research and looks into the distance of the future research.The traditional “knowledge and blackboard” as the teaching model of knowledge getting has limited the effective implement in rural primary education. Multimedia teaching can provide pupils with interesting materials such as efficient contents, graphic image, sound video, in order to improve students learning. They can help teachers and students interact more effectively, sufficiently remove student learning activities and enhance teaching efficiency. They can help to promote overall teaching qualities. The research of the thesis can deepen people’s cognition about the significance of multimedia teaching. It conduces to improve multimedia application in rural primary schools. It indicates another significance to enrich the field of the research. Of course, multimedial teaching research is still in the continuous exploration in primary schools. Because of all kinds of limitations of conditions, there are many shortcomings in the research. In the thesis, on the base of summarizing the achieving results, the writer self-examines the shortages of this research and explicits the direction of the future research.
