Chinese classical poetry is one of the most dazzling piece of our na tional culture, it is also an important part of Chinese teaching in junior middle school. The aesthetic value and the polysemy of the theme provides a platform for junior middle school students to improve their aesthetic appreciation and to expand their level of thinking.Through a series of investigation and analysis, I found out that some problems need to be solved in the learning process of the ancient poetry in junior middle school. These problems include low learning efficiency, less application of classical poetry in the daily life and less reading skills taught by their teachers. At the same time, most of the Chinese teachers lack of interests in ancient poetry teaching, and even don`t like reading classical poetry themselves, their teaching, as a result, is more utilitarian. Among the classic poems referred in the textbook of Shanghai Education version for junior middle school, poetry have the largest number, Ci Poetry second, Qu the last. Most of the writers were from Tang and Song Dynasty, while some others lived in different dynasties. The themes in are diverse, covering the various categories of ancient poetry. In the recent ten years, Shanghai senior high school entrance examination requires students to not only dictate but also appreciate the poetry properly, focusing on the ability of students to appreciate ancient poetry.Under the situation above, I put forward a new way of teaching ancient poetry: Take the student as the main body, stimulates the students’ study interests of ancient poetry and take the teacher as the leader to improve the efficiency of students learning process. Teachers create situations and let students learn under certain situations with their own discovery, and continuously improve teacher’s own command of ancient poetry. In the premise of equal and democratic relationship between teachers and students, the teaching of ancient poetry should be carried out flexibly and accurately.
