Shanxi Youth Projects Taekwondo Tournament Management

Taekwondo is an event of modern sports, and it has been prosperous in recent years. According to incomplete statistics, eight millions of Chinese people are practicing taekwondo and 700 thousands of them have regular practice in over 2000 Wushu Halls across the nation. Taekwondo has a history in Shanxi province since year 2003. The province has more than 50 Taekwondo clubs. About 10000 people are practicing Taekwondo and around half of them have regular practices in these clubs. Before 2003, taekwondo competitions are held throughout eleven cities of Shanxi Province in the name of each region, and there is no province-level competitions. After years of great efforts by Provincial Taekwondo Association staff since its establishment, we have various province-level Taekwondo events nowadays. During the organization of Taekwondo events in the past few years, the province not only greatly improved the competition level of Taekwondo, but also has significant improvements in taekwondo tournaments’organizations and arrangements.My study is based on the Pupils and Students Taekwondo Champion-ships in Shanxi Province. Besides personal experiences, I use literature survey, comparative study, mathematical statistics and logical analysis to make a comprehensive analysis of the entire process. I also refer the method of project management theory to understand the status of the province Taekwondo tournament. Through the understanding of events, and then I use the practice of project management theory to provide a theoretical reference to enhance the province’s taekwondo tournament organization. Concluded as follows:1. For the Pupils and Students Taekwondo Championships, the tourna-ment is mainly started by government and planning by the group work of the Taekwondo Association of Shanxi Province and the Shanxi Student Sports Association. Many organizers play different roles and have many kinds of work during the match, yet they done it well. However, because of this division of labor problems, there are no clear responsibilities in the organization during the events. The shortage in quantity of managers and the quality of management have a negative impact to the coherence of the matches. The largest imperfection of our work is the evaluation of events: more subjective evaluations than objective evaluations.2. The tournament event management for a variety of factors were analyzed,For time management, it’s reasonable for us to hold preliminaries in the summer and hold finals during the National Day, since there is adequate preparation time. For financial management, the financial situations of preliminary stage is managed by subordinate committee and supervised by the organizing committee. The final stages of the financial responsibility is on the financial group of organizing committee due to the small size of the game. Marketing management is a weak part. Because of the small scale of the race, the game has few attentions and it is not easy to get enough sponsorships. Other than the insufficient in the registration of athletes, competition management in general is successful. For logistics management, we have a timely response to emergencies, but do not work well on athlete accommo-dation and staff accommodation arrangements. Information and communica-tion management are doing better in this competition. The organizing committee used the Internet to contact each subordinate committee, so the preliminary information can timely feedback to the organizing committee to ensure the successful completion of the finals. The only imperfect is that some of the information is not conveyed in time. Risk management in the tournament is not working well. The investigation shows that many students do not know that they don’t have insurance in the game, which is a great management mistake.3. Through the study of project management, combined with the current situation in our province Taekwondo competition management, the paper worked out a youth taekwondo competition management model. The Pupils and Students Taekwondo Championships in our province is a result of this system. In general, the management system is implemented in accordance with the organizational structure of sports events considering differences in geographic and other aspects, thus has its own unique side. Shanxi Province Sports Bureau is the tournament’s organizers. The event should be approved by the Sports Council before they can compete. Taekwondo Association of Shanxi Province and Shanxi Student Sports Association are the organizer of the tournament. They are primarily responsible for all aspects of specific events in the tournament.
