A Study Of National Education Association And Teachers’ Rights Protection

When teachers’ rights have been defend,they are usually only by their own strength.And teachers put their energy into these activities will be harmful to the teaching work.Teacher’s rights activities should be with the help of a group’s power, the teacher’s own strength is the teacher’s professional organizations.The National Education Association,that is NEA,in America,it is the largest teacher union.when NEA foundation in 1857,it always promote the teachers’ professional development,this is its major target.NEA had changed its original target since 1920 s,and make great effort to protect the teachers’ rights.This thesis has five parts:The introduction chapter raises the problem, reviews the related literature both at home and abroad, and proposes research method and meaning;The second chapter talked about the development history of NEA、its purpose and members and the organization management of NEA;The third chapter is the main functions of NEA protect teachers’ rights and benefits,including service,publicity and communication,research,decision making and consultation;The fourth chapter is the aspects and characteristic of NEA protect teachers’ rights and benefits,to improve teachers’ economic status and social status,to improve teachers’ working environment and conditions,to take part in political activities and teachers’ collective bargaining.NEA play a vital role in protect teachers’ rights and benefits.The fifth chapter is inspiring and learning to China,including the successful experiences and existing problem of NEA protect teachers’ rights and benefits,to establish and develop teachers’ professional organization,to practice the idea of “based on teachers”,and to strengthen the cooperation with education institutions in government.
