Research On The Image Of Athletes In The Chinese Sports Movie Since The Reform And Opening Up

Athlete is an important part of sports. As a significant carrier of sportsmanship and the national spirit, athletes play an important role in promoting sports and developing fitness activities. Sports movie is an important type of movies and also a valuable media form which can convey sportsmanship, deliver sports spirit and shape the athlete’s image.This study uses literature review method, inductive method, content analysis to analyze the athlete’s images reflected in movies. Based 77 sports movies released or produced in Mainland China since the reform and opening up, this essay studies the video samples and image samples related with the athlete’s image.Since the reform and opening up, athletes’ image are embodied with vivid time characteristics in Chinese sports films. They are closely associated with the political, economic and cultural policy of the nation. During 1978-1989, Chinese sports movies have created "Superman" athletic images. During 1990-2000, Chinese sports movie construct athlete images featured by "Warrior".During 2001-2014, Chinese sports movie presents the images of athlete characterized by "Dreamfinisher’, the strong desire of participation and formidable stamina.Studies have shown that sports movie scenes didn’t give full play to the player’s image by using training and competitive scene, and personality was not so outstanding Athlete has been given so much social function, seemingly a little tragic. Thus part of the fascination were not deprived of in the athlete’s image.
