Achievement test for senior middle school graduates will accelerate the construction of ordinary high school education quality monitoring system, and promote the effective implementation of the general high school course work and the overall improvement of education quality of teaching. Cloze test will take a larger proportion in achievement test because it can examine the comprehensive language ability of students. The author tries to find the current situation of English test content validity in high school under the background of the new curriculum. In the view of the existing problems, the author puts forward relevant suggestions to solve them and make some comments on the investigation.This study used the combination of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and take qualitative study as its primary means while qualitative study as secondary one. In order to ensure the reliability of the results in the study, a research team is composed to analyze and determine the four aspects of skill, topic, genre and difficulty which influence the content validity of cloze. To make the study more scientific and objective, the process and the results of the study will be expressed by evaluation indicators,which are got by data analysis.In this paper, through empirical research and data analysis, according to knowledge of probability theory, abstracting the mode to quantitative analysis with the consistency. This survey results show that: the ten sets of test papers have a medium content validity. They examine the comprehensive language ability of students well to some extent, consistent with the proposed capacity requirements of comprehensive language ability in the new curriculum standards. It concretely shows that: the genre is fairly diverse, with comments in it. The theme close to the students’ daily life, examine all aspects of life, especially a few western daily lifestyle.There are also some disadvantages in the paper:genre and topic are not very comprehensive and wide, could not meet the requirement of curriculum standard well enough.There are grammar testing simply in English cloze tests,which are not meet the requirement of testing the five aspects of comprehensive language application ability.The revelation of the investigation shows that something should be done to improve these disadvantages. According to the problems of testing this thesis provides some suggestions for improvement. When select the material to be tested, should be paid attention on the variety,the appropriate, the context and the coverage. Finally the author give advice and analyze the limitations of this study.
