With the deepening of the reform of the elementary education system, in the elementary school mathematics, using mathematical problem solving ability is one of the important goals of compulsory education stage mathematics curriculum, but under the background of new curriculum reform, the current layout and rendering of the teaching materials, special grade six students psychological physiology period and partly due to the uneven of students, how to improve the problem solving ability is imminent.This Paper takes Qinhuangdao Baitaling Primary School as a case, using the method of literature, case study method, experience method and other methods, from the three aspects of teaching materials, teachers and students, through the case of classroom teaching, thoroughly analysis the problems and the reasons behind of teaching sixth grade application problem solving ability, and trying to explain the problems and reasons from the perspective of theory and to put forward the teaching strategies.This Paper is divided into 4 parts:Introduction: The introduction of selected topic’s reason, the significance of the research, the domestic and foreign literature, the research method and the definition of related concepts.Chapter1:The investigation of sixth grade application problems solving status at Qinhuangdao Baitaling Primary School.Chapter2:Analysis of the factors influencing the grade six students ability to solve application problems.Chapter3:The guidance of strategies for solving application problems.Chapter4:The practice of improving the ability of solving application problems for 6 grade students in Baitaling Primary School.
