As one of the four basic skills of language learning and an inseparable aspect of communicative competence, English writing has drawn more and more attention in the English learning research circles. But over the years, the native senior middle school students’ poor performance in English writing has upset even the most experienced teachers. Affected by the mother tongue, the Zhuang native senior middle school students make many different kinds of errors from words, sentences to paragraphs more or less in their English compositions. It cannot be denied that a lot of work has been done to develop the Zhuang native senior middle school students’ writing ability. But English writing is still by far the most arduous task.The research is carried out by collecting and analyzing the Zhuang native senior middle school students’English compositions. There are 210 Zhuang native senior middle schools students who come from three senior middle schools, namely Dong Lan senior middle school, Du An senior middle school and Yi Zhou senior middle school in Hechi city involved in the present study. In order to guarantee the credibility and validity of the subsequent analysis, the researcher collects their original English compositions written at three different times and mainly tries to discuss the following questions:First one, what are the common errors made in the Zhuang native senior middle school students’English writing?Second one, what are the reasons for making such errors?Third one, how to help students correct such errors to improve their writing ability?To meet the practical needs of the Zhuang native senior middle school students’ development and the pressing demands of the new curriculum, the present study is conducted on the basis of the Corder’s error analysis; Krashen’s input hypothesis and Swain’s output hypothesis. It is found that the following common errors have been made in the Zhuang native senior middle school students’ English writing:First, errors in ontology including spelling errors and punctuation errors. Second, errors in vocabulary including part of speech errors, word form errors. Third, errors in sentences include incomplete or incoherent sentences, grammar errors, and expression errors. Fourth, errors in discourse include no coherence or loose connection among paragraphs. Sometimes there is no coherence or even no relation to the topic.On the basis of the data analysis, the reasons for Zhuang native senior middle school students making such errors are varied. Both internal factors like the interference of mother tongue and external factors like the lack of strong motivation, right learning strategies, English writing practice and a solid grasp of the knowledge account for their errors in English writing. What’s more, it could be caused by some improper teaching methods and inadequate textbooks.According to the analysis, the thesis puts forward some suggestions for the Zhuang native senior middle school students, the English teachers and the education system(the education system here means all the systems related education except teachers and students) in order to improve the writing skills of the Zhuang native senior middle school students.For the part of students, the Zhuang native senior middle school students are the main performers who should be in charge of their English compositions. Firstly, they should think in the way of English as possible as they can. Secondly, they should improve their grammar. Thirdly, they should write more as well as read extensive in order to guarantee them achieve success in English writing.For the part of English teachers, they play a leading role in English writing. It is very significance that English teachers give correct guiding to the students. Therefore, they should notice the importance of English writing and give adequate time to read over and gives remarks to students’English writing. They also should use some innovative way of teaching to motivate students to write and increase the students’ confidence. Moreover, they should build up harmonious relationship with students.For the part of the education system, it also should raise the awareness of English writing and provide good study conditions to the Zhuang native senior middle school students.The present research is not so perfect due to limited conditions, however, it is sincerely hoped that the present study can shed light on English writing; meanwhile, it can pave the way to more penetrating and profound studies in the future.
