| Jerome S. Bruner is a famous American cognitive developmental psychologist and educator. His book The Process of Education, which formed during the American education reform meeting in 1960, was introduced into China in 1960s-1970 s, caused extensive concern by Chinese educators, and has still been an educational classic in China. By theinfluence of Bruner’s structuralism education thought and "discovery learning and teaching", Chinese educators has gradually reformed our teaching idea and mode. From the collected data, however, the current research on The Process of Education mainly focuses on interpretation and application of the ideas, as well as his educational cultural turn since the 21 st century. The spreading of his idea is seldom concerned. Therefore, the author puts forward the problem, hoping that it will get more attention.This paper will analyzethe spreading of Bruner’seducational thoughts in The Process of Education in China mainland from the perspective of communication, which will be divided into three parts:The first part is mainly about background of the spreading of The Process of Education in China mainland, including not only in the birthplace, the United States, but also in China mainland. It also demonstrates and analyzes the spreading opportunity in China, which mainly includes the needs of educational reform in new China, the declining of N. A. Kaiipob’ Pedagogy in China and the academic communicational condition of educational “floweringâ€.The second part induces systematically the spreading process of The Process of Education in China mainland. This paper will expound it in three stages: the first stage(1963-1978) is the progress introduced by a small number of people like Cao Fu; the second phase(1978-1978) is the wide spreading and learning stage of Bruner’s after reforming and opening up; The third stage(2001- present) is the progress of exploring and practicing of The Process of Education under the new curriculum reformation.The third part analyzes the influence of The Process of Education on Chinese education since it was introduced to China mainland, which includes not only the direct influence but also the indirect influence by Bruner’s specific educational thought. Through comparative study, this paper finds that the reform of curriculum, teaching and teaching material in China mainland all has deep influence of Bruner’s The Process of Education. |
