Bruner is a famous psychologist and educator in the United States, known as the evergreens in academic circles and lifelong learners. His thought about education and culture is his later hallmark. However, due to various reasons,it has not been realized enough as his structural one.My essay attempts to not only have a good command of his thoughts, but also let the academic circles pay more attention to the research about Bruner and others like him.The essay starts with a brief introduction of Bruner and discusses the meaning of research and the main method used in the essay as well as the current status about this field.Apart from the introduction, the main body includes three parts.Part one tries to analyze forming settings of Bruner's thoughts from three aspects:personal experience, social status, thoughts' sources, and their influence on Bruner.Part two states Bruner's viewpoint about education and culture from the four aspects:educational aims, educational content, educational methods, and viewpoint about teachers. It advocates establishing a mutual learning community and mutual culture, which requires students not only to understand cultural foundation but also to face the changing society.Students can master the knowledge and understand themselves and others from the overall situational and contextual relevance though narrative methods and logical science methods. In the community, teachers play an indispensable and important role in organization and promotion that they create "enablement" culture in the classrooms and promote students to support others.Through connection with each other, they can form mutual learning communities. The next part discusses the meaning of Bruner's thoughts and states the reflection of mine, such as constructing learning community and meaning, paying more attention to narrative and teachers.
