The study focuses on a comparison between the Trail Textbook (A) published by People’s Education Press under the Ordinary High School Curriculum Standards and Britain mathematics textbooks for senior middle school students. In addition, by discussing the contents of trigonometric function using content analysis, compassion method case study and Composite Difficulty, the author intends to explore the differences and similarities between these books, thereby the reasons from qualitative and quantitative views. At last, she proposes several suggestions on the basis of our nation’s fact. This article aims to solve the following problems:First of all, There is a contrast between the two textbooks from qualitative views, such as the distribution and extension of teaching goals, teaching content, evaluating modes and teaching requirements.Secondly, There is a contrast between the two textbooks from quantitative views, such as examples and exercises, exercises and the college entrance examination between these books. At last, the author compared the contents on Triangle Induction Formula and the Addition Formulae for Sine and Cosine between the two textbooks from micro-perspective and finally. The results show that:(1)There are three chapters on trigonometric functions in both Chinese and Britain mathematics textbooks. Britain mathematics textbooks are easier than Chinese’s. There are more knowledge and exercises in Chinese mathematics textbooks. To make students know every chapter’s emphasis and difficulty, British textbooks are characterized straightly. Chinese mathematics textbooks pay more attention to summary, in the end of each chapter has knowledge summary to make students review this chapter.(2) A comparison study on trigonometric functions based on the Chinese and British high school mathematics curricula. On the level of background, exercises of the two textbooks are almost no background. On the level of exploration, only Chinese textbooks have explored titles. On the level of operation, Chinese textbooks’exercises are significantly more difficult than English textbooks’. On the level of inference, Chinese textbooks’exercises are slightly more difficult than English textbooks’. On the level of knowledge content, English textbooks’ exercises with more than three knowledge points less than Chinese textbooks’.(3) A case study on trigonometric functions based on the Chinese and British high school mathematics curricula. From the introduction of the way, British textbooks are straight, Chinese textbooks lead knowledge from real life’s examples. There are formulas derived in the example in Britain mathematics textbooks. Chinese mathematics textbooks are harder than Britain’s. In the derivation of respect, there are more knowledge and exercises in Chinese mathematics textbooks. At last, based on the comparative study, the author drew a conclusion and put forward two suggestions from these aspects, which were the compilation of textbooks and teachings.
