With the popularity of education informatization in the school and the deepening of the concept of curriculum reform, how to put the education idea of "autonomy, cooperation, explore" to the concrete teaching practice is an important topic of the current education research. The rapid development of network technology and software technology, to enable the students to carry out collaborative learning in the network platform becomes possible. The network platform of Web-based collaborative learning has become a trend based on network teaching. At present, the research about Web-based collaborative learning has many problems to be solved, especially how to effectively carry out the Web-based collaborative learning become a hot research topic in the field of collaborative learning, seeking a set of perfect design methods become the priority among priorities of the current study.The paper accord to the problem of the current information technology curriculum that teaching method is single, students’ interest are not high and the classroom is not active, using the social constructivism and the activity theory, combining with the Moodle platform, study the design and application of Web-based collaborative learning based on Moodle platform.firstly introduces the research status of collaborative learning and Moodle platform at home and abroad, briefly expounds the related concepts and theoretical basis of cooperative learning. Secondly, building Moodle platform on the computer, and introduces its design concept and function. Thirdly, by social constructivism theory and activity theory as the guiding ideology, combining with the design concept of Moodle platform, summed up the Web-based collaborative learning design principles, and design the process model of the Web-based collaborative learning design. Then to the information technology teaching material in Wuhan press as an example, selecting teaching materials in some subject to design teaching and to practice teaching, and carries on the appraisal analysis. At last, through the questionnaire survey form, verify the validity of the research design, analysis and summary the effect of the teaching practice, so as to draw some practical experience. In theory, enrich and develop the study of Web-based collaborative learning based on Moodle platform. In practice, provides a set of operational steps.The practice results show that the Web-based collaborative learning design based on Moodle platform is practical and effective for information technology teaching. Moodle platform provides a good technical platform for collaborative learning, and provide rich collaborative learning activities and resources for teachers, make teachers more effective management of classroom teaching, make students better into collaborative learning situation, is advantageous to training the student’s independent, cooperative and exploring ability, embodies the "take the student as the main body, take the teachers as the leading" double main teaching thought, helps students to improve the ability of innovative thinking and expression.
