In 2007, a nationwide activity named "sunshine sports" is proposed for students across the country, aimed at strengthening the country’s student’s exercise and improve their physical health. Therefore, how to carry out "sunshine sports" more scientifically, reasonably and effectively has become an important research topic to scholars. As a traditional Chinese exercise technique, Tai Chi plays a significant role in human health. 24 Style Tai Chi, as the essence of Young’s Tai Chi, has always been promoting among major schools as one of the traditional ethnic sports by State General Administration of Sport and the Ministry of Education. With offensive and defensive skills and integrated hardness and softness, it is suitable for different groups, for it is also featured by fitness, recreation, entertainment and performances in one.To explore the effects of 24 Style Tai Chi on junior students’physical conditions, to provide scientific basis for "sunshine sports" and to promote the extensive practice of 24 Style Tai Chi, this thesis randomly selects students from South Lake Middle School eighth-grade students in Wuhan and divides them into the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group will be trained with one academic year of 24 Style Tai Chi exercise while the control group will not be trained. This thesis uses literature review, interview, test, questionnaire and mathematical statistics methods to track their physical health. The results are as follows:1.The experiment shows that adolescents’long-standing practice of 24 Style Tai Chi will not markedly affect the natural growth of indicators such as their height, weight, waist circumference and body fat rate, etc.2. The long-standing practice of 24 Style Tai Chi can significantly increase students’ thigh circumference, thus improving the strength and stability of their lower limbs.3. The long-term adherence to 24 Style Tai Chi can significantly reduce the resting heart rate and exercise heart rate of adolescents.4. The adolescents’long-standing practice of 24 Style Tai Chi can significantly increase the vital capacity.5. The adolescents’long-standing practice of 24 Style Tai Chi has a significant impact on their physical exercise training, such as standing long jump, sit-and-reach test,one-legged standing with eyes closed,800 and 1000 meters running for girls and boys, etc.6. The majority of students regard it is necessary to the school to carry out the Tai Chi movement, they learn about the effects of 24 Style Tai Chi, and would like to participate the activity. They have an objective understanding of the difficulty of 24 Style Tai Chi.Conclusions:The long-term practicing of the junior students with 24-Style Tai Chi can improve the function of the cardiovascular system and the respiratory system, and it also can improve the students’ ability to balance and physical flexibility. At the same time, the ability of aerobic exercise is improved. However, the exercise of 24 Style Tai Chi has no significant effect on the change of body shape.24 Style Tai Chi can be extensively developed in the "sunshine sports" activities for it is not restricted by school equipment facilities. Therefore, In order to enrich the content of "sunshine sports" and popularized Tai Chi exercises in middle school, this paper puts forward the following Suggestions:1. Cultivating professional teachers in Tai Chi teaching and improving the temporally teachers’ professional quality.2. To strengthen the teaching reform of Tai Chi and adopt various teaching methods actively to improve the interesting,ornamental and intuitive of Tai Chi exercise.3. Making the special physical education teaching is promoted,by which to help the formation of systematic and professional teaching, and organize the competition events of teenagers of Tai Chi.4. To arrange Tai Chi’s exercise time scientifically and rationally according to the college students’physical characteristics and the requirements of sunshine sports activities.5. To strengthen the work of Tai Chi movement’s popularization,promotion and publicity by which to enhance the students fully understand the Tai Chi exercise’s promotion to physical health.
