Social Identity Threat And Common Focus On The Effect Of Intergroup Trust

Intergroup trust plays an important role in resolving intergroup conflict, trust between groups is the premise of all relations towards a positive direction,.trust is the base of cooperation and harmony. Existing research on the effect of intergroup trust and its influencing factors have done a lot of discussion. Through to the domestic and foreign literature, we found previous studies usually use school and district as the classification, and less attention to the locals and outsiders. At the same time, the previous literature has proved that the low level of intergroup trust is widespread. Therefore, this research use locals and outsiders as a research object. Discussion the influence of social identity threat and common focus in intergroup trust.Preliminary investigation,aimed to reveal the fact that based on the trust of the group under the condition of information subjects to outsiders level is much lower than the local trust level.Study 1, aimed to explore the influence of the common focus and the influence of social identity threat in intergroup trust. The results of the study found that:(1) social identity threat was significantly;(2) the influence of the common focus was not significant,(3) the interaction betweeb common focus and social identity threat was significant,.Study 2 explored the influence of social identity threat type:(based on the group, based on individual) and common focus in intergroup trust. The results showed that:(1) common focus has significant effects intergroup trust;(2) the influence of social identity threat types was not significant;(3) the interaction between common focus and social identity threat was not significant.The reason may be that whether is it based on the group or on the individual’s, social identity threat will reduce the intergroup trust level subjects.Research show that under the condition of the social identity of threat, common focus can improve the trust of foreign group members.
