Intergroup trust is an important part of people’s social life and it’s also the main factor affecting intergroup relations.Based on social identity theory and intergroup contact theory,the current research explored how the quantity and quality of intergroup contact and imaged intergroup contact predict intergroup trust,which providing theoretical basis for the improvement of intergroup relations.This paper includes three studies:Based on social identity theory,the first study and analyzed and discussed the characteristics of Uygur and Han college students groups,which established foundation for this article.Studied on the intergroup contact theory,the second study analyzed the influence of intergroup contact between Uygur and Han college students’ intergroup trust from the intergroup contact of quality and quantity.This paper used the trust game paradigm.Chinese Han and Uygur undergraduates were recruited.Specific studies are as follows :The first study explored the characteristics of Uygur and Han college students groups.In experiment one,120 Uygur and Han college students(60 Uygur, 60 Han) were tested by 2(trust national identity: Uygur, Han) x 2(trusted national identity: Uygur, Han) of the two factors between subjects experimental design. The second study analyzed the influence of intergroup contact between Uygur and Han college students’ intergroup trust.In this part,217 Uygur and Han college students(98 Uygur, 119 Han) were tested the influnence of intergroup contact to intergroup trust respectively from the intergroup contact of quality and quantity.In this part,the second experiment used 2(trust national identity: Uygur, Han) x 2(number of intergroup contact: high, low) of two factors between subjects experimental design, and the third experiment used 2(trust national identity: Uygur, Han) x 2(intergroup contact quality: high and low) of the two factors between subjects experimental design. The third study explored the effect limitation of positive intergroup contact from the study of intervention of positive imaged contace with low interpgroup trust colleage students.In the fourth experiment,94 Uygur and Han college students(48 Uygur,46 Han) were tested by 2(trust national identity: Uygur, Han) x 2(imagine contact: imagine positive contact, imagine a neutral scene) of the two factors between subjects experimental design.Based on the above findings we draw the following conclusions:(1) There were no significant differences between Uygur and Han college students in intergroup trust.(2) There was no significant difference between Chinese Uygur and Han college students in intergroup trustworthiness rating.(3) In comparison to low quality of contact college students,the high quality of contact college students showed much more intergroup trust.(4) Compared with under the intervention of neutral imaged contact,Uygur and Han college students show significantly higher intergroup trust under positive imaged contact.(5) Han college students of low intergroup trust show significantly greater influence by imaged positive intergroup contact than Uygur students low inter group trust.
