As an important part of improving the reform of “New Curriculum” and the development of compulsory education, Junior high school English teachers play an indispensable role in the reform of basic education in our country, Besides, they are influencing Junior high school students which are in the critical period. With the further implement of the new round of education curriculum reform, the higher demands for the teachers have been asked which include teaching concepts, teaching strategies and teaching skills, Therefore, in order to promote their professional quality and keep pace with the times, they should armed with the theory of life-long learning, so far, researchers are paying much more attention on the professional development of English teachers in junior high school, Consequently, it is very worthwhile to study the method of the teachers’ professional development of junior high school English teachers.In the 1990 s, The field of education focused on the study of classroom observation, however, the related research on the observation carried on the English class was rare to be seen, and it is hard to find related materials and resources, according to the above analysis, This thesis takes one of the empirical research methods: classroom observation, in the process, we walked into the junior high school as a team and rooted in the English class, only in this way can the team explore the effective approach to boost the professional development of English teachers in junior high school. In 2013, under the discussion between Hubei Normal University and Tie Shan junior high school in Huang Shi city, Hubei province, the professors and English teachers in Tie Shan were agreed with the project, the professors’ team has chosen and observed two English teachers individually in each grade, during the project, the six teachers has experienced many different steps to improve themselves: learning, practice, rethink, practice again, feedback and so on, in the spiral rise procedure, not only did they update their professional knowledge system, but also they advanced their professional skills. On these grounds, the steps and models of improving the professional development of English teachers in junior high school are concluded and put forward.This thesis tries to solve two problems:The first one: How to carry out English classroom observation effectively in the junior middle school? What are the specific steps?The second one: What are the models to promote the English teachers’ professional development in junior middle school based on the classroom observation?After the observation, It is not hard to find that the English teachers’ professional ability is developed, this point can be proved on the basis of the test results of students, we can make a conclusion that the teachers’ teaching effect is getting better and better.
