Scaffolding teaching model is one of the cores in the constructivism instruction, and the current explorations and studies of scaffolding teaching model have gradually been involved in various disciplines and interdisciplinary branches of the field. However, very few researches have been conducted specific to the senior high school English grammar teaching. Therefore, this study attempts to apply the model of scaffolding instruction in senior high school English grammar teaching and verify the effectiveness of the proposed model and its impact on the students’ English grammar learning through the teaching experiment. Through reading up and combing the related literature, this study had a comprehensive and systematic review of researches on scaffolding teaching model and, on the basis of this, applied the five links of the scaffolding instruction in the classroom teaching of senior high school English grammar. In this study two parallel classes of Grade One from a senior high school in Fuzhou were took as experimental class and control class, and an investigation and teaching experiment of eleven weeks were conducted with test data analyzed through SPSS 17.0.This study results show that there are significant differences between the experimental class and control class in terms of after test results of English grammar, and the experimental class students’ test scores are higher than those of control class, which clearly indicates that scaffolding teaching model applied to senior high school English grammar teaching is more advantageous to the students for mastering and using English grammar knowledge. The practice has proved that a lively classroom atmosphere can be created and the senior high school students’ English grammar learning enthusiasm and initiative can be promoted by adopting the scaffolding teaching model in senior high school English grammar instruction and ensuring the communication and collaboration between students and teachers in completing together the task of teaching and learning. Finally, through the reflection of the teaching experiment, this research puts forward some teaching revelation and suggestions from the perspective of high school English grammar teaching, hoping to provide some beneficial reference for the reform of senior high school English grammar teaching.
