Due to unbalanced educational resources between different schools and areas, increasing high education pay and the need of lifelong education, the traditional education cannot meet the need of current society. The online education is regarded as a vital part of the whole education system, which plays an important role for address the problems of unbalanced education resources. However, for the traditional educations, it exits some fixed troubles, for example, courses videos are old-fashioned, and BBS are useless and so on.In 2012, MOOC leads extraordinary evolution in the field of online education. Its merits include fixed videos only for MOOCS, frequently communicate between students and teachers and study autonomously. From that then, among the global online education area are occupied by three main MOOC website: Cousera, Udacity and edx. For China, some famous schools, likes Tsinghua, join in one of the three MOOC websites, for another schools, they are willing to setup theirs own MOOC website.So my essay adopts the document analysis method in order to quest the reasons why MOOCs can popular to the whole world in such short times and analyze the main differences between the traditional teaching method and MOOC teaching method to upgrade the development of blended teaching method as well. The essay is divided into four parts. First part is mainly to introduce what’s the MOOC. Second part is going to introduce some relevant theory of teaching methods. Third part tries to analyze the differences between the traditional teaching method and the MOOC teaching method. The last part talks about the great influence of MOOC.The conclusion of this paper is that MOOC as the new teaching method, which has some merits to the traditional teaching one, such as more professional, more flexible and suitable for students. Secondly, MOOC has some denominators with traditional teaching methods and some differences with traditional one so as to it has highly running possibility in teaching. The combinations of the two teaching methods can impulse the development of blended teaching method.
