Research On Martial Arts Organizations Of The Republic Of China

In the Republic of China, the development of Chinese martial arts was significantly influenced by many factors such as the war strife, warlords, government changes, the unstable political environment, a variety of cultural collision and contradiction between Chinese native sports and western sports. However, martial arts of the Republic of China in this particular social environment still continued to progress and got some achievements. This can be attributed to the important role played by various martial arts organizations to some extent. The research objects of this thesis are the martial arts organizations in the republic of China, including civil martial arts organizations and the official martial arts organizations, respectively taking Jingwu Sports Association and Central Martial Art Hall for example. Methods of historical documents and comparative analysis are employed in this thesis to run through their background, organizational structure and main activities. Then the characteristics, evolution and development experience of martial arts organizations of the Republic of China are summarized. By those researches, the author expects to achieve the purposes which provides history experience for modern martial arts organizations, promotes the promogation of martial arts culture, riches sports history research in modern China and objectively reproduces the development of the martial arts organizations of the Republic of China.Through collecting and analyzing related literatures, the author finds that thematic studies relating to martial arts organizations does not exist, the number of relevant paper is not optimistic, and studies relevant to martial arts organizations of the Republic of China are handful. Studies on martial arts organizations are represented by those existed now and martial arts organizations of the Republic of China are represented by Jingwu Sports Association, Central Martial Art Hall and Tianjin martial arts organizations. The inadequacies of the research are summed up as follows:achievements are very little, study objects are unbalanced, research contents are old-fashioned and research methods are simple.Characteristics of organizations of the Republic of China are concluded through their carding history, organizational elements and main activities, which basically behave in:organization types were variety, and non-governmental martial arts organizations and official martial arts organizations complemented each other; goals were revolves in studying martial arts, spreading martial arts and saving the nation; the modern organizational structure and electoral system existed; Besides, the production functions, vector functions, integration functions, and management functions of the organizations coexisted. Further, the evolution rule of the martial arts organizations of the Republic of China are summarized, which take the form as follows:existing region was from rural to city; structural relationship existed;large group training instead of master-apprentice style; Deeply, research function, diffuseness function and educational function were added on the basis of past fitness, entertainment and defending function. Through the historical evolution of martial arts organizations during the Republic of China, self-construction of the organization, political, economical and cultural environment all played an important roles in the development of the organizations. On this basis, suggestions as follows are given:Firstly, the construction of martial arts organizations should be further improved; secondly, martial arts organizations should attach importance to bringing cultural functions of the traditional martial arts into play; thirdly, the government departments should hold the clear position to strengthen support; fourthly, the economic capacity of the organization should be enhanced and the funding sources should be broadened.
