Patriotism, as part of the traditional virtues of Chinese nations, is a great power in pushing unity and advancement of the whole nation, encouraging each of us to fight for the rising and prosperity of the country. As the future of the country and the hope of the nation, college student are directly linked with China’s rise and decline by their values, political positions and moral principles. Now college student’s patriotism education has already become an important research topic in college ideological work. With the rapid development of information technology, the new media, represented by the internet and intelligent mobile phone, has changed the channel and expanded the media platform of information communication and reception for college students. However, amidst the opportunities for college student patriotism education brought by the wide application of the new media, there are also challenges for college educators, education method, education channel and efficacy. Under the context of new media, college student’s patriotic emotion and belief has suffered impacts of pluralistic social values, leading to some extreme behaviors quite harmful to their own growth and national sustainable stability. In the virtual network world, traditional patriotism education has lost its appeal, the authority of the educators has been dissolved and the credibility has been weakened, and the difficulty in handling and supervision of crisis information has been increasing. In face of the complex and changeable environment of new media, the efficacy of college student’s patriotism education is under a serious threat.College student is the most active group using most of the new media resources. Faced up with the challenges from diversified information environment, we shall have a deliberate consideration about college student patriotism education under this new media context. The thesis, starting from network perspective of college student patriotism education, and by learning the application status of new media by college students, and the positive and negative effects of new media environment upon college student patriotism education, has specifically offered such proposals as organizing online guidance and psychological consultation for college student in various forms of “online second classroom” and campus internet culture recessive education, so as reasonably and effectively to realize the educational advantage of network media. By building new carrier education bases, for example setting patriotism network platform, improve the expression and appeal of the educational contents; increase the influence and expansion of the virtual communities in type of patriotism education, like Microblog and Wechat to cultivate campus opinion leaders; create and promote the mobile phone APP downloading the red culture education information to make it easy for college students to receive the baptism of revolutionary culture and patriotic belief; open expert Microblog column for patriotic education to talk about some hot issues, spread authoritative concepts and guide college students setting correct political objective, principle and position by the effect of model demonstration. Meanwhile, by constantly improving the personality and media quality of the college educators, strength self-discipline education and media quality education for college students, and practically improve the efficacy of college student patriotism education under the current context of new media.
