With the urgent need of social development and peole’s life, universities enlarge their enrollment plan for the athletes in senior middle schools, and in the meanwhile motivate the interests for the students to choose the major and the schools to set up the special class just for them. However, the low academic behaviour in school and poor performance at exam will not only have an impact on the the passing rate of both their sports and academic performance, but also the whole passing rate of a certain part of schools. Moreover, from the aspect of their own survival and development after graduation, lack of cultural qualities and general abilities will lead to all sorts of obstacles to their further development at work. The paper makes a survey on the relationship among the learning motivation, mental health and academic performance of the athletes in senior middle schools, deeply analysing the problems existing in their cultural education and the reasons that lead to these problems, and thus put forward the strategies for the solutions to these above problems and improve their academic behaviour and cultural qualities further more.This research sets its aim at the learning motivation, mental health and the score of College Entrance Examination among their athlete students from an ordinary high school in Guangzhou, and analyses the psychological problems and relative strategies from a more comprehensive perspective. It was found that the atheletes of 2014 session are more sensitive to things than the atheletes of the 2013 session, the atheletes of 2014 session are more impulsive to things than the atheletes of the 2013 session, and as to the other aspects of mental health, the atheletes of 2014 session have no difference with the atheletes of the 2013 session. Meanwhile, the results also found that gender will affect the mental health, the females are more impulsive than the boys, and boys have more clearer learning goals than girls, however, boys and girls have no significant differences in the other dimensions of mental health. On the motivation of academic learning, the athletes of 2013 sessions have more clearer learning goals, and the males have better more clearer learning goals.The correlation analysis between the multiple dimensions among learning motivation and mental health showed that the learning objectives, learning motivation and mental health score correlated significantly negatively, learning motivation and loneliness tend to score correlated significantly negatively. Besides, anxietiy, blaming and impulsive tendency, and the score of College Entrance Examination tend to score correlated significantly negatively, and as to the other aspects, the score of College Entrance Examination has no difference with mental health.Researchers have proposed the measures to solve these questions. Firstly, the head teacher of the class should learn how to explore the positive energy of the character actively and let them play a significant role in the creation of a class group of uprightness. Secondly, cultural teachers should respect and care for sports students, develop their goodwill for cultural classroom.Thirdly, the teachers should learn how to use a friendly way to care and love them. Lastly, teachers should regularly carry out various surveys and censuses on the psychology aspects among athlete students, to make the management system of mental Health education institutionalized and systematic. At the same time, the teachers should integrate psychological education in a variety of activities, and only by doing this can teachers encourage athlete students’ learning interests and relax their anxieties, and therefore improve their condition of mental health. Moreover, their learning motivation and mental health are closely related, the study also proposed to improve the learning motivation of the athiete students from four aspects. First of all, teachers should carry out a more flexible management of human nature for them in order to supervise the cultural lesson to learn standardize training behavior and form a good team wind. Secondly, each of teachers and students should have a round-table conference regularly after the exams, to strengthen ideological education and attribute the success or failure of the previous stage of cultural lesson. Finally, it is necessary to set different difficult levels and gradient homework of professional training courses to satisfy the different prior knowledge level of atheletes needs. With the job completed, teachers should present the feedback timely, and conduct individual counselings for the individuals who have significant learning problems.
