Thanks to the joint efforts of numerous Wushu experts and those competentauthorities at different levels, Wushu Sanda has experienced a continuous developmentduring the past30years. In spite of this, some problems still remain unsolved. Thisthesis, by means of literature review, contrastive analysis, on-the-spot observation andlogic analysis, touches upon some bottlenecks that restrict the development of WushuSanda. Based on its history, characteristics and function, this thesis identifies a numberof bottlenecks that restrict its development in the current social environment, and offerssome effective proposals and countermeasures. These bottlenecks include: the variationof competition rules; inadequacy of event management; innate limitation of athleticsports; impact of imported fighting events; disassociation with traditional culture;conflicts with traditional school education; overemphasis on economic benefits, etc.Targeting these problems, countermeasures are offered, including creating brand events;making full use of information technology; giving full play to the role of mass media;integrating traditional culture into Wushu Sanda; combining athletic Wushu withtraditional Wushu; referring to the successful practice of other fighting events;propelling the professionalization and internationalization of Wushu Sanda, etc.
