For most senior high school students, since the time of entering Senior Two, serious "fossilization" has occurred in English writing in the aspects of lexical usage, syntax, grammar, discourse structure, and genre writing methods. They are aware of the importance of learning English, and they also want to learn it well. However, because of the absence of pragmatic environment, most of them are full of fear, unable to start and learn it well. Learning is in a state of "fossilization" and enters a death cycle:high school English teachers find it hard to teach English. Students find it difficult to learn English well and hard to improve their achievements.Writing is an important part of English teaching in Senior High School. If you can’t do a great job in the writing teaching and learning, it is very difficult to accomplish the purpose of English teaching. Continuing to explore and study writing "fossilization" phenomenon and "activation" strategies in teaching and learning is very important for senior students to learn a foreign language, which can also provide some beneficial implications to our English teaching.Through the statistics and analysis of model writings in NMET of Fujian Province in the near five years, the writer sums up the characteristics of high school English writing in theme, genre, lexical usage, syntax, grammar, discourse structure and expression; through the study of the "fossilization" in high school English writing, the writer classifies different sorts of "fossilization", and analyzes its causes from the aspects of vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar, teachers, students, environment and teaching methods etc; the writer also puts forward "activation" strategies of senior high school English writing and verifies the validity of the results.High school English writing "fossilization" has something to do with the system of Second Language Acquisition and "activation" teaching strategies are unlikely to have effect in such a short time. However, high school teachers should correctly tackle the problem of "fossilization" in senior English writing, take necessary "activation" strategies and try our best to deal with the "fossilization" in the English writing.
