The new curriculum education in domestic has been pushed into the stage of the comprehensive implementation. As the product of curriculum reform, textbook is not only a specific carrier of curriculum standard, but also an irreplaceable platform of knowledge transmission between teachers and students. It plays a significant role in curriculum reform. The diverse teaching material compilation has brought the rich resources and the success experience for the elementary education curriculum theory system so far, as well as many problems. For instance, great change has taken place in textbook exercises setting at present than that in the past. What the function and meaning of exercises will be after the implementation of new curriculum education? Will the problem settings reflect the basic idea of the new curriculum? What is the extent that the difficulty of exercises will meet students’ need of learning and developing? These series of problems related to problem settings needs all kinds of education researchers or workers to carry out the correlated research and innovation. In this paper, the researches are based on a comparative study about the current three settings of high school chemistry compulsory teaching materials after class exercises. It contains two aspects:on one hand, it compares the way of exercises presentation in macro level; on the other hand, it compares the difficulty and consistency of the exercises in micro level. The result showed that, in the number of exercises, the people education press (PEP) edition takes the most up to338; Jiangsu education press (JEP) edition ranks the second up to212; and there follows164by Shandong scientific press (SSP) edition. On the type of problem settings, they have in common with many characteristics:Firstly, it still majors in traditional topics, such as choice question, cloze, essay question and so on; secondly, it introduces a new topic, such as investigation, discussion, online query, which occupies only a small proportion. On the difficulty of exercise, the comparison is mainly based on a quantitative model for comprehensive chemistry exercises difficulty, composed by backgrnd, mathematical skills, reasoning, knowledge content, openness, and macro-micro operators. All of three settings of textbooks have different characteristics in following factors. The comprehensive calculation of average difficulty results showed that the most difficult exercises is SSP edition, followed by the SEP edition, and the easiest is PEP edition. In the aspect of consistency between exercises and curriculum standard, three settings of textbooks have many commons and differences with content themes and cognitive levels through analyzing and drawing lessons from foreign survey enacted curriculum (SEC). Through porter consistency coefficient calculation, the consistency between exercises and curriculum standard in JEP ranks the first, besides, PEP edition and SSP edition gets close to each other. Based on macro-micro control analysis and comparison with the above three settings of high school chemistry compulsory teaching materials after class exercises are investigated. In the high school chemistry teaching material problem setting, the effectiveness and function of all kinds of question settings are focused on more attention. To do further research and revise the question writing standards, so as to improve the textbook exercises in research and construction, thus make the exercises in the textbook more fully reflections for three-dimensional training goal of the new curriculum.
