The concept of trigonometric function of any angle is the core concept oftrigonometric function. It is vital to master the concept of trigonometric function. Atpresent the definition of trigonometric function concept is divided into two ways:"theunit circle definition method" and "terminal side definition method". It deserves study tochoose which one is more useful for making use of the recognition and study of students.This paper chooses PEP (People’s Education Press) and JEP (Jiangsu Education Press)edition of textbooks as the research object, through the literature analysis, comparativestudy, and experience summary method to study the following questions: how is theconcept of trigonometric function of the two versions of textbooks to show? whichdesign is fit more students, more conducive to student learning?Comparative study shows:(1) compared with PEP’ unit circle definition method,JEP’ way of introduction of moving point on a circle is more helpful for studentsto understand trigonometric function and periodicity;(2) JEP more essentially reflectsthe generating process of trigonometric function concept, and PEP more naturally showsthe development process of the concept;(3) PEP does better in the aspects ofintegrating knowledge teaching into students’ exploration than JEP;(4) Both PEP andJEP might combine more closely with information technology.Based on the comparison results, this paper obtains the following conclusions:(1)to be introduced by "moving point on a circle", teaching in "the unit of circle definitionmethod";(2) to strengthen the teaching of the nature of trigonometric functiondescription and using the Geometer’s Sketchpad as an ocular demonstration;(3) to setaside enough time to let the students explore independently.This paper finally makes the instructional design of the concept of trigonometricfunction, and obtains some teaching enlightenment. In the teaching of trigonometricfunction concept, teachers should focus on:(1) learning concept of trigonometricfunction from the perspective of the history of mathematics;(2) the generating processof trigonometric functions;(3) the gradual process of trigonometric function conceptteaching.
